INGREDIENTS:
1 9″ pie crust
1/2 c. sugar
3 tbsp. flour
1/4 tsp. nutmeg
1/4 tsp. cinnamon
5 c. sliced pared tart apples (about 5 med.)
CRUMB TOPPING:
1 c. flour
1/2 c. firm butter
1/2 c. brown sugar
DIRECTIONS:
Crumb Topping: Mix all topping ingredients until crumbly.
Filling: Preheat oven to 425 degrees. Mix sugar, flour, nutmeg and cinnamon. Stir in apples. Turn into pastry-lined pie plate. Crumble the crumb topping on top of apple mixture. Bake 50 minutes. Cover topping with aluminum foil during last 10 minutes. Best served warm.
